To ensure that employees working in a laboratory setting receive current information regarding laboratory safety, Channel Islands should provide periodic refresher laboratory safety training to these employees beginning in the Fall 2018 semester.
6-Month Agency Response
Channel Islands has implemented its refresher laboratory safety training for employees. Refresher training for hazardous waste and bloodborne pathogens is required annually, and refresher training for Laboratory Safety Fundamentals is required every three years. The trainings are available to all employees online.

Refresher training will be provided to employees beginning in Fall 2018.
Further development of the training/refresher training plan is scheduled with relevant Academic Affairs Department Chairs, Internal Audit, and campus EH&S once faculty returns in August 2018.
