Report 2019-108 Monthly Updates

While auditees are required to provide updates on their progress in implementing recommendations from our reports at 60 days, six months and one year following the release of an audit, the Sacramento City Unified School District (Sacramento Unified) will also provide monthly updates on its progress due to the impending risk of insolvency. In May 2020, the California State Auditor asked Sacramento Unified to begin providing monthly updates on its progress made in implementing each of our recommendations and stressed the importance for the district to do all that it can to address its declining financial condition in light of the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic placing additional strain on all school districts. The first monthly update was due in July 2020. Below is the initial letter sent to Sacramento Unified, the district's monthly updates, and the assessment of those updates.
